03 Impala AC vents hot on drivers side

My 03' Impala AC vents blows slightly warm on the driver side but blows cold on passenger side. This is the base impala 3400. The AC vents have dual controls.

I located the actuators for the right and left sides under the dash. When I move the temp lever I can see the actuator turn. Each side seems to be working. It's like the driver's side is not shutting off all the way. They are really hard to get to. Seems like the ashtray, climate controls and radio would need to be removed to get to the actuator.

Any suggestions?

Thanks John

Guys I'm gonna suggest something as a possibility that to this day still makes no sense to me, but, I too had this issue last year and asked a guy up the street that has a repair shop and he said that it might need a shot of coolant. I questioned him a bit on that and he said his wifes 01 was doing that so before tearing into anything mechanical he did a pressure check finding that it was a little low. He did a quick shot with that can of stuff you can buy at the auto parts store and Walmart etc and that fixed it. Soooo, I did the same and it fixed mine as well and is still ice cold on both sides this year. I don't understand how that would work, but it did. I hate giving answers that I cant support with logic, but... Might give it a try. Good luck.

It's just a can of coolant to top off your system you can get at Walmart or the parts stores under different names. They have a gauge on the top so you can tell when it's full or where you're at.

The ash tray does not need to be removed. You need a real good flash light. Take off the kick panel first and then Is what I did was laid the seat all the way back. I then laid on the seat backwards with the back of my head on the carpet right up against the gas pedal. Then flash your light up there and you'll see the screws. If my memory is correct their either 5mm or 5.5 mm. 3 of them.
