Oh come on. I challenge you to find one single case of an individual anywhere in the USA going to jail over removing his cats. I actually challenge you to find an individual that was even ever fined. I know exhaust shops have been fined, but I think the EPA has great constitutional challenges in working against a private citizen. It's right up there with the fines involved in removing the tags on your mattress.

Ok, im new to these cars so dont think im too stupid when I ask this, but arent these motors and set ups the same as the GTO, and some vettes, and the older TA's? So shouldnt there be plenty of upgrades for them? Even simple bolt ons? I have owned mustangs, I have kids now...so need the room, but still want the nuts, under the hood.
I ran no cats, on my 2 mustangs that I had. Never failed emissions, but had MILs on both cars.
Are you talking about B-Bodies or W-Bodies? Your pics are of a W. What year are you wanting to know about?

The catalytic converter used on a wide scale is causing way more problems then it is solving. It has added cost and enviromental damage in it's manufacture. It is adding heavy metals to the sides of our highways, and then to our waterways. It produces N2O that otherwise wouldn't be emitted and N2O is 300 times worse a greenhouse gas then CO2. It causes the need for the car to run richer then it would w/o the cat, using more gas, actually adding up to millions more gallons burned overall and even worse air quality as a collective. The cats makes sense for a very few limited areas, like LA where smog is a problem. That was also during 70's technology long before cars were optimized with modern computers and fuel injection. The day of the catalytic converter is long over, it needs to go away nationwide.

Agree. It is much like the Hybrid car. It causes more damage than it fixes. Damn Hippies and media feeding us the BS of being "green". Most people dont realize that the hybrid is using the gas engine at speeds over 40mph. Most of these cars are used for commuting at speeds over 40 mph. Does this makes sence to anyone? the carbon footprint used to produce one of these cars is ridiculous!

Ans the way 1969Impala is posting about cats, IM sure he can find someone that he has turned in, or fined himself for not haveing cats, on their vehicle....Im sure they have fined someone for removing mattress tags too.

I had a Honda once that I changed the factory airbox out for a K&N CARB Approved one. I placed the CARB sticker in the wrong location in the engine compartment and the dude failed me. In California, you are at the mercy of the Smog Tech. If he wants to fail you or turn you in, he will. As for your comment about 1969Impala... be carefull Mr. Junior Member about how you talk about those with a little more invested on this site.

Like I said im new to these cars. Have no clue to a W/B body. I just purchesed an 08 SS.
If you have an 08, it is a W. Like I said, there are parts out there, but you will need to look for them. As for your car being an LS engine like the Vette, F Body and GTO, It is also a FWD. The exhaust is ran different; the intake is ran different; the transmission is setup different. To produce parts for a FWD car would require some sort of re-tooling, I would guess, and therefore cost more than the company would be able to make in acceptable profit. Again, there are companies out there, but not as many as for the RWD counterparts of the LS engines.

So where are these parts?? I would just like a really good sounding car....and as far as me being a Jr Memeber, yes I am, yes i do not know much about these cars.....again, I have owned Fords, not Chevys, so eveyone knows that running cats is ILLEGAL, so with that being said, I dont need somone to tell me that. Some of us live in states that are not as strict as other states. (ie CA) All I was asking and wanting to know was if there was any set up for our cars, that was similiar to my Mustang set up. (were I could run no cats)

Pace Setter has some for Headers and stuff 2000-2005 Impalas. I would start with them and see if they could point you in the direction you are wanting to go.

UMMMM, Pace Setters DOES NOT make headers for the LS4. The only ones who make headers for the LS4 cars is Doug Thorley.

Blk08SS- Just do a search in the 8th gen section and you'll see alot of the different things people have done.
